Finding a Football Team for Your Child (Age 6, Year 2)

Modified on Thu, 31 Jul at 7:31 AM

If you’re looking for a local football team for your child to join, Staffordshire FA can help you find the right opportunities nearby.

1️⃣ Use the England Football ‘Find Football’ Tool

The quickest and easiest way to find a suitable team is to use the England Football ‘Find Football’ tool.

  • Enter your postcode and select "Find a team".

  • Filter results by your child’s age group (Under-7s).

  • You’ll be able to view local clubs, contact details, and session information.

2️⃣ Check for Local Wildcats Centres (Optional for Girls)

If your child is a girl, you can also search for Weetabix Wildcats sessions – fun, friendly, non-competitive sessions designed for girls aged 5–11.

3️⃣ Contact the Club Directly

Once you’ve found a suitable club:

  • Get in touch with them using the details provided.

  • Ask about available spaces, training times, and match formats for your child’s age group.

Important Information

  • Children in Year 2 usually play Under-7s football.

  • Many clubs offer training-only sessions to help children settle in before joining a team.

  • Spaces can be limited, so we recommend contacting more than one club to find availability.
